[07.10.2000] US Weekly, FHM, Girl, TM, Briar Patch, Dead in the Water.

Us Weekly: In the July 17, 2000 issue of 'US Weekly' with JFK Jr. on the front there's a full page photo of Dominique. She's in The Shore Things section: Young Hollywood's freshest stars model summer 2000's slickest swimsuits. Their blurb about Dominique: Three things come to actress Dominique Swain's mind when she thinks of summer: "strawberries, checking out cute, tan boys and socklessness." Excuse me? "Not having to wear socks really takes a load off my mind," says Swain, 19, who appears in August's 'Intern'. "I grew up in a canyon. We would go hiking and climbing barefoot. It was lovely." Bikinis and beaches are a way of life for the Malibu, California, native, who was a junior lifeguard for eight years until she landed the title role in 1997's 'Lolita' and then played John Travolta's daughter in the action flick 'Face/Off'. Currently she's shooting 'Briar Patch' with Henry Thomas ('E.T'.). Now all grown up and a strapping five-foot-eight, Swain has become more body-conscious - but not obsessive about her weight. "Hyperskinny," she says, "is something I can't handle." (thx Zelda & Michelle)
For Him Magazine: There are two pictures of Dominique in the July/August 2000 FHM (For Him Magazine). The magazine contains a separate issue showing 100 Sexiest Woman In The World 2000. Dominique is #97. The magazine states: “The results are decided by fellow readers according to the time honored rules of a secret ballot, so this is the official, definitive and final lineup.” There is a small picture of Dominique and the same picture on the opposite side that takes up the full page. I imagine a lot of Dom lovers will buy a real nice frame for that one and hang it on the wall. It is glorious! Along with the picture the following information is given: No. 97 is Dominique Swain, Lolita. After being narrowly edged out as one of the three finalists for a role in Interview With the Vampire, Dominique got her first big break at age 17 when she was chosen from 2,500 girls to play Lolita in Adrian Lyne’s 1997 remake of the Vladimir Nabokov novel. That’s a big step up from her first film appearance-she was the stunt double for Quinn Culkin (younger sister of has-been Macauly) in a scene in The Good Son that involved poping up from under the ice.” (Thx John)
Girl: According to Amazon.com "Girl" DVD is due August 29, 2000.
Teen Movieline: In the latest issue of "TM", there is an article on the 25 brightest actors under 21 (or something like that) and Dominique is one of them. So there are 2 or 3 paragraphs on her as well as a photograph. (Thx Tony)
Briar Patch & Dead in the Water: IMDB confirmed the rumours about two new movies starring Dominique.
Briar Patch: Henry Thomas will star opposite Arie Verveen and Dominique Swain as a petty thief who imprisons his unhappy wife, who in turn schemes to murder him. Lensing is slated for July in Highpoint, N.C.
Dead in the Water: A thriller about three Americans on a boat trip off the coast of Rio. Gustavo Lipsztein will direct from his own script. Dominique Swain is also staring.
[06.12.2000] New Movies?
I was looking through some articles and I found one about this young actor, and he'll be starring in some movies with Dominique. I'll edit the artcile so there's only stuff about Dominique:
Thomas Hooks Three Indie Film Roles by Charles Lyons 06/04/00
"The actor will segue into ``Briar Patch,'' to be directed by Zev Berman. He will star opposite Arie Verveen and Dominique Swain as a petty thief who imprisons his unhappy wife, who in turn schemes to murder him. Lensing is slated for July in Highpoint, N.C." and "Thomas will reunite with Swain in ``Dead in Water,'' a thriller about three Americans on a boat trip off the coast of Rio. Gustavo Lipsztein will direct from his own script."
Thx Zelda!

Please check this IMDB page to read more about the new short comedy staring Dominique.
[06.07.2000] Swain in June issue of Vogue.

In the June issue of Vogue there's a full page picture of Dominique Swain. In the section that says, "Short cuts. Up, up, and away: Hollywood's rising ingenues vet fashion's newest length: short." They also have a little blurb about her: Swain, nineteen, seems to suffer from a bit of a princess fixation. She collects costumes, especially "princess dresses." She wants to film "a period piece, where I play royalty." And she decided to act after seeing 'The Neverending Story,' (an eighties sci-fi fairy tale): "I thought that the empress was the picture of purity and innocence," she says. Strange, then, that this principessa-in-waiting debuted as Adrian Lyne's Lolita. "I knew it was going to be sensitive," Swain says of her decision to take the part. "But Lolita doesn't really have a voice in the book, and I understood who she was, certainly better than Humbert did." Swain is now poised to take her career to the next level: She has five films in the can, including the upcoming 'Happy Campers', 'Tart', and 'The Intern', a satirical Cinderella story set in the "over-the-top" world of a fashion magazine. Thx Zelda!
[06.04.2000] Dominique Swain looks for movie role to get her out of school. (IMDB 05.02.2000)
DOMINIQUE SWAIN is enrolled to start college next year - but she's desperately looking for a movie role that will mean she can give studying a miss. The 19-year-old Lolita (1997) actress lives in Santa Monica, with her sister and is currently travelling around America auditioning for roles. And although she knows going on to further studies would be beneficial for her, she admits she's hoping to be able to sidestep school for a big leading lady role. She says, "I'm going to school next fall unless I get hired to be the next hugest woman. Since I've had time off from movies, it's made me appreciate what I love about it... I get to experience all these different walks of life without having to deal with the consequences. I do love acting, so if there was the opportunity to do a part I wanted to do, I'd put off college."
